COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Artful Connections: Vision and Creativity Across Generations
Artful Connections is a community workshop project designed and led by Carol Black-Lemon to ignite creativity and self-expression in young people and older adults. Using collage and assemblage art as the primary mediums, participants will delve into the historic and cultural significance of these art forms. The project aims to empower individuals, especially young people and older adults, to explore their identities, build relationships, and strengthen community bonds through imaginative and meaningful art-based activities.
Why Collage?
Unlike other art forms that may rely on proficient technical skills which may require more time to master, such as painting and sculpture, the artistic expertise of collage lies in the choosing, arranging and affixing. As such, the term 'collage' comes from the French term coller, meaning 'to glue'.
It gives your composition skills a workout in organizing shapes.
It uses papers combined with painting, drawing and any other media.
When making your own papers you can try new ways of painting you would never otherwise try.
